Strive CEO Matt Cole Forecasts US Dollar Debasement to Drive Bitcoin Toward $500K
Former CalPERS portfolio manager and Strive CEO Matt Cole expects government intervention in US bond markets to cause a major dollar decline, creating ideal macro conditions for Bitcoin over the coming years.

Former CalPERS fixed income portfolio manager and Strive CEO Matt Cole outlined a macro thesis centered on structural US debt and fiat debasement during a recent video interview. Having previously managed $70 billion in institutional structured finance and US Treasuries, Cole asserted that political incentives in Washington prevent meaningful spending cuts. As a result, he expects the Treasury and Federal Reserve to act as the ultimate release valve by buying back bonds and eroding the purchasing power of the US dollar.
Cole projected that the government will be forced into explicit or implicit market interventions within the next 18 months to cap surging yields, sparking what he believes will be the largest decline in the US Dollar Index (DXY) during Bitcoin's history over a three- to seven-year window. He emphasized that current administrative preferences for a weaker dollar align directly with the primary macro drivers that historically propel Bitcoin bull markets.
Looking further ahead, Cole anticipates this macro shift could push Bitcoin's price to $500,000 by 2030. He explained how his firm, Strive, is utilizing preferred equity instruments to maintain amplified exposure to Bitcoin without taking on debt liquidation risk, aiming to outperform spot holdings as institutional adoption and fiat debasement accelerate.
