Macro Strategist Jordy Visser Outlines AI Agent Thesis Behind Recent Crypto Breakout
Macro analyst Jordy Visser argues that despite interest rate hikes and broader market headwinds, digital assets are breaking out as autonomous AI agents begin populating crypto infrastructure.

Despite hawkish Federal Reserve rate hikes, elevated Treasury yields, and persistent doom-and-gloom headlines surrounding artificial intelligence, global stock markets held steady while digital assets mounted a notable rally. Macro strategist Jordy Visser highlighted that major layer-1 networks—including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana—far outperformed equities over the quarter. According to Visser, his proprietary 46-name crypto index recently touched new highs for the year, signaling what he considers a fundamental macro breakout.
Central to Visser’s thesis is the convergence of blockchain infrastructure and autonomous AI agents. Comparing current crypto rails to China’s early infrastructure expansion and ghost cities of the 2000s, Visser argued that digital asset networks were never truly built for human consumers, but rather for non-human software agents. As frontier AI models advance toward automated research and autonomous tasks, these digital entities are expected to use on-chain rails for payments, liquidity, and tokenized real-world assets.
While traditional equity markets remain divided between rate-sensitive consumer sectors and mega-cap technology firms, Visser views crypto as a uniquely positioned macro opportunity. He noted that as AI deployment accelerates, automated transaction velocity will fill existing blockchain rails, driving long-term value across the digital asset ecosystem.
