Mark Yusko Warns of Fiat Devaluation, Sees Bitcoin Fair Value Above $100,000

Morgan Creek Capital founder Mark Yusko predicts massive central bank debt monetization will drive fiat currency devaluation, making Bitcoin an essential portfolio hedge. Yusko places Bitcoin's current Metcalfe's Law fair value at around $105,000 while urging investors to hold at least 5% to 10% in hard assets.

Mark Yusko Warns of Fiat Devaluation, Sees Bitcoin Fair Value Above $100,000

In a detailed macroeconomic discussion on Crypto Banter, Morgan Creek Capital Management founder Mark Yusko outlined his thesis on Bitcoin, debt monetization, and market cycle dynamics. Yusko argued that Bitcoin is currently trading well below its Metcalfe's Law fair value—which he places around $105,000—due to the unwinding of excess market leverage. Addressing market volatility, Yusko noted that recent sharp upward moves reflect bear market short squeezes rather than sustained bull market action, but emphasized that Bitcoin remains mathematically bound to long-term network growth and M2 money supply expansion.

The Monetary Devaluation Thesis

Yusko highlighted sovereign currency debasement as the single greatest risk confronting investors globally. Pointing to unsustainable debt levels across the U.S., Japan, and Europe, he argued that central banks have no alternative but to monetize government debt through massive bond buyback programs. Yusko projected that the U.S. central bank could be forced to absorb $20 trillion to $25 trillion in Treasuries over the coming decade to manage interest burdens. To protect against this systemic erosion of purchasing power, Yusko urged every investor to maintain a 5% to 10% baseline allocation in store-of-value assets such as Bitcoin and gold.

Venture Take-Profits and Corporate Treasury Strategy

Addressing altcoins and venture allocations, Yusko revealed that his firm divested more than 90% of its early position in Solana despite generating massive returns, citing structural flaws in tokenomics where token holders lack cash flow rights. Conversely, Yusko defended MicroStrategy's long-term Bitcoin treasury strategy, pointing out that Michael Saylor's non-callable debt structure insulates the company from margin calls. Yusko concluded that as sovereign fiat currencies face historical endgames, provably scarce digital assets like Bitcoin will serve as primary destinations for capital seeking protection from inflation.
