# Canton Network Prepares for Institutional Launch as DTCC Prepares On-Chain Equity Settlement

Financial market utility giant DTCC has selected Canton Network to bring tokenized U.S. equities and Treasuries on-chain, paving the way for 24/7 real-time asset settlement. In a recent interview, Canton co-creator Yuval Rooz explained the network's privacy architecture, institutional adoption, and deflationary fee model.

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), which oversees approximately $110 trillion in traditional assets, has selected Canton Network as the first public blockchain to support cleared transactions for tokenized U.S. equities and Treasuries. Speaking in an interview, Digital Asset co-founder Yuval Rooz highlighted that the integration—scheduled to go live in October—allows market participants to convert traditional equities onto Canton rails for 24/7 real-time movement and settlement while retaining full rights to corporate actions and security ownership.

Canton distinguishes itself from early public blockchains by addressing institutional requirements around privacy, governance, and horizontal scalability. Rather than replicating every smart contract data point across all network nodes by default, Canton relies on smart contracts that restrict transaction visibility to relevant counterparties. The network functions similarly to the internet, allowing independent sub-networks operated by banks and financial institutions to interoperate seamlessly without fragmented cross-chain bridges.

Beyond the DTCC, Canton's expanding global infrastructure includes major players such as Japan's JSCC, South Korea's Shinhan Bank, Broadridge, Tradeweb, CME, Nasdaq, and Visa, alongside decentralized exchange Temple. Built with a transaction fee burn model, the network has already burned over 13% of its total token supply over two years. The protocol distributes rewards to application developers who bring user utility and fee activity to the ecosystem, aiming to support complex institutional products like total return swaps and capital-efficient perpetual contracts.
