# ChainTVL Launches a Free Cross-Chain TVL and Capital Flow Tracker

ChainTVL, a new free dashboard from the team behind CryptoCatalyst, tracks total value locked across the top 50 blockchains, with stablecoin supply, chain comparisons, and a modeled view of where DeFi capital is moving, all built on DefiLlama data.

## Key takeaways

- ChainTVL is a free dashboard tracking total value locked across the top 50 blockchains, built by the team behind CryptoCatalyst.
- On September 29, 2026 it showed $95.31 billion in total DeFi TVL, with Ethereum holding $53.75 billion of it.
- Its Flows view models where capital is moving between chains from net TVL changes; it is not bridge-transaction data.
- All figures come from DefiLlama's free public APIs and refresh every 5 to 15 minutes.

The team behind CryptoCatalyst has launched [ChainTVL](https://www.chaintvl.com/), a free dashboard that tracks total value locked (TVL) across every major blockchain and shows where DeFi capital is moving between them. It ranks the top 50 chains by TVL, charts each chain's history back to launch, and puts stablecoin supply alongside TVL so both signals of on-chain capital sit in one place.

## What ChainTVL Tracks

TVL is the dollar value of crypto deposited in a chain's DeFi protocols: lending markets, DEX liquidity pools, staking contracts and the like. It measures how much capital is actually being used on a chain, which a token's market cap does not.

On September 29, 2026, the [ChainTVL dashboard](https://www.chaintvl.com/) put total DeFi TVL at $95.31 billion, down 1.1% ($1.04 billion) over seven days, with $305.34 billion of stablecoin supply tracked across the leading chains. Ethereum held $53.75 billion, more than half of all DeFi TVL, followed by Solana at $6.51 billion and Base at $6.30 billion. That concentration is the backdrop to [this year's broad slide in DeFi TVL](/articles/2026-06-24-defi-tvl-drops-39-in-2026-amid-market-downturn-and-record-hack-activity).

## Three Ways to Read the Data

- **Dashboard**: the [top 50 chains by TVL](https://www.chaintvl.com/), with 24-hour, 7-day and 30-day change and each chain's stablecoin supply.
- **Flows**: a [cross-chain flow diagram](https://www.chaintvl.com/flows) of which chains are losing share and which are gaining it, over 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, for either TVL or stablecoin supply.
- **Compare**: [up to three chains on one chart](https://www.chaintvl.com/compare), indexed to percent change so chains of very different sizes can be compared fairly. Over the past year, it shows Base up 28.5% while Ethereum fell 38.7% and Solana 42.8%.

Every chain also gets its own page. The [Ethereum page](https://www.chaintvl.com/chain/ethereum), for example, lists its largest protocols, led by Lido at $26.83 billion and Aave V3 at $15.45 billion, with TVL and stablecoin history going back to 2017.

## Where the Momentum Is

The 30-day column is where shifts show up first. [Robinhood Chain](https://www.chaintvl.com/chain/robinhood-chain), the Ethereum layer 2 [built for tokenized stocks](/articles/2026-07-13-robinhood-chain-ethereums-new-layer-2-for-tokenized-stocks), passed $1 billion in TVL after a 44.2% monthly gain. [Bittensor](https://www.chaintvl.com/chain/bittensor) grew more than twelvefold in 30 days to $623 million. Hyperliquid L1 went the other way, down 22.6%. [Base](https://www.chaintvl.com/chain/base), which [set a weekly TVL growth record in August](/articles/2026-08-24-ethereums-base-network-sees-record-15b-in-tvl-growth-in-a-week), was up 14.1% on the month.

## How the Numbers Are Made

All figures come from DefiLlama's free public APIs: chain TVL from api.llama.fi and stablecoin supply from stablecoins.llama.fi. ChainTVL runs no indexers of its own. The dashboard refreshes every five minutes, and the flow and chain pages every fifteen.

One caveat is stated on the site itself: the Flows view is a modeled estimate, not a record of bridge transactions. It takes each chain's net change in TVL or stablecoin supply over the chosen window and treats chains that lost share as sources and chains that gained share as destinations. DefiLlama's bridge-volume data now requires a paid plan, so ChainTVL shows where share moved rather than the literal routes capital took.

ChainTVL is free to use at [chaintvl.com](https://www.chaintvl.com/).

## FAQ

### What is ChainTVL?

ChainTVL is a free website that tracks total value locked (TVL) and stablecoin supply across the top 50 blockchains, compares chains on one chart, and models where DeFi capital is moving between them.

### Where does ChainTVL get its data?

All figures come from DefiLlama's free public APIs: chain TVL from api.llama.fi and stablecoin supply from stablecoins.llama.fi. ChainTVL does not run its own on-chain indexers.

### Are ChainTVL's cross-chain flows real bridge transactions?

No. The Flows view is a modeled reallocation based on each chain's net change in TVL or stablecoin supply over the chosen window. It shows where share moved, not the literal routes capital took across bridges.

### How often does ChainTVL update?

The main dashboard refreshes every five minutes, and the flow and individual chain pages refresh every fifteen minutes.
